Men’s Health Tips: Small Changes Can Have a Big Impact

As men, we are hardwired for productivity and success. Unfortunately, many of us neglect our health which is foundational for reaching our highest potential. For men, maintaining good health is essential because it allows us to live longer, happier lives. Below, I address some of the common questions I hear from my male patients about how to incorporate lifestyle choices to improve health.

1. How do I get motivated to live healthier?

You must have a strong enough reason to get motivated to improve your health. You are more likely to maintain a healthy habit if you understand how it benefits you. For example, regularly lifting weights will not only improve muscle mass but also your self-confidence.

2. How do I make time to workout?

The best way to make time for exercise is to set aside at least 30 minutes a day. Although life can be hectic, there is always enough time to improve your health. Going for a bike ride, walking, or playing basketball are great ways to stay fit with limited time.

3. How do I make healthier food choices?

Our diets play a significant role in our health. In my experience, the best way to make healthier food choices is by making simple changes. For example, instead of drinking high-calorie beverages such as soda or juice, drink flavored sparkling water.

4. What’s the fastest way to lose weight?

When it comes to weight loss, there are no shortcuts. Many men turn to fad diets or extreme workouts to lose weight quickly. Unfortunately, these methods don’t work long-term and can harm your health. The best way to lose weight is by eating a healthy diet and moderate exercise.

5. How do I get more energy throughout the day?

Getting enough sleep is one of the best ways to maintain high energy levels throughout the day.   Sleep deprivation can lead to mental fatigue, hormonal abnormalities, and weight gain. You should try to get at least 7 hours of sleep each night to maintain healthy energy levels.

Your health is not something you should take for granted. Even some of the small changes mentioned in this blog can lead to positive long-term effects that will improve your health. If you have questions about changes you can make to your daily routine to improve your health, talk with your Board Certified PA or other health care provider.
