Before she knew much about the PA profession, Alkiesha Collins, PA-C, did not think about it as a career option. In fact, she was already studying for the Medical College Admission Test in hopes of becoming a pediatrician.
Rashadah Jordan, PA-C, feels that psychiatry allows her to have an especially positive impact on her patients.
“Maintaining certification validates my ability to remain laterally mobile and shows how seriously I take what I do. Medicine is always evolving, and we must stay on top of it.”
Nina Muñoz, PA-C, implores anyone with a passion for health care to explore a career as a Certified PA. Because there are many complexities of patient care, she suggests volunteering and shadowing a Certified PA to help understand what it takes to be a member of the medical team.
No one accomplishes anything alone. Working with a supportive team that has your back is a great way to achieve success, especially for a health care team. Certified PAs, like Julie Davis, have been working with physicians to support one another as a team since 1967.
Ever since she was a kid, Jameka McElroy-Brooklyn, PA-C, knew that she wanted to pursue a career in medicine. She had always been interested in science but didn’t know where this interest would lead her. It wasn’t until her junior year of college that McElroy-Brooklyn knew exactly what career path she would pursue. After meeting a Dermatology PA, she realized how much the PA profession aligned with her personal and professional goals.
